Normally my blood glucose numbers are pretty good. My A1C is currently 5.4 but today was a frustrating sugar day. I was in the car on my way to Harbor Freight looking for storage for some craft supplies. They have really good storage stuff. Anyway, my insulin pump alarmed. I knew my sugar was good when I left the house. I had just changed my CGM and had plenty of insulin. “Inclusion” was on the screen. I had never seen that before, but I traced the tubing to make sure it wasn’t kinked, and it wasn’t. By the time I got home, sugar levels were headed over 400. This is what I did but I am not a doctor so I can only tell you what I did, right or wrong. I took 10 units of regular insulin with a syringe then replaced the tubing and cartridge in my pump. It took over five hours for levels to come back to below 180. It was tempting to bolus more insulin through the pump, but I’ve learned to be patient. The pump along with the manual shot brought it down for me.
Sam, sending prayers for you. You are one tough, kind and brave woman. Hopefully your search for a kidney will be found soon.
Oh my goodness, Sammie….I’m so sorry you have to deal with things like this. :’-( Sending love and hugs!
